Excerpt from book one: WILD by Eliza Gayle
"I'm fine. Really. I just need to focus on my sister. "
"You need to sit down and let me handle this." His voice deepened, his tone clear he would take no more arguing.
She frowned. "You're bossy."
"It comes with the territory." He shook two aspirin from the bottle and handed them to her. "You first. Then we'll deal with your sister."
She didn't like being handled like a child, but the fact she wanted to get rid of this growing headache outweighed her desire to tell Mr. Bossy Pants where he could stick his--
"The bite burns doesn't it?"
"A little," she lied. It actually throbbed.
"It's going to get worse before it gets better."
"And you know this because you have experience with a wolf bite?" She didn't care that her skepticism showed. She was standing on a foggy, deserted road in the middle of creepy island with her sister's too hot to handle boss.
"You'd be surprised to know what all I have experience with, little one."
She could imagine. The man ran a freaking strip club.
"I imagine in your line of work there isn't much you haven't seen. But I don't see you getting a lot of wolves wandering through your doors looking for a cheap thrill."
His right brow lifted and the threat of a real smile lifted the edges of his mouth again. "You'd be surprised what will walk through my doors."
She rolled her eyes. Why did every word out of his mouth have to make him sound delicious?
She needed to get away from him while she still could.
"Thanks for your help, but I can take care of the rest on my own."
He shook his head. "Do you ever stop talking and just listen?"
She sighed. Whatever it was it couldn't be as important as finding her sister. "Fine. But this better be good."
The smile he'd hinted at finally broke free, transforming him into the most gorgeous male creature she'd ever encountered.
"Don't worry. It's always good."
Thats when she really knew. There would be no walking away from this island unscathed.
