Damien peered through the smoke filled room to the woman standing just inside the door. Long blonde hair nearly to her ass, pale porcelain skin, curvy compact body, and without seeing them, crystal blue eyes.
They weren't hard to imagine when every time he closed his eyes they haunted him. As did everything about her.
Her curves alone were enough to drive a man wild...
Faith Harris, the thorn in his side, the woman of his dreams and a fragile human who had no idea what he really was, had stepped into his bar uninvited. Looked like his night was about to go sideways.
At the moment he was plotting his escape, she spotted him at the bar and with a subtle fling of her silky hair, she headed his way. She wasn't the type to flaunt her body, but each step she took in his direction teased him mercilessly. His body tightened the closer she got and he had to adjust himself to save his poor manhood.
As the sister to one of his employees, he'd only met her a couple of times, so his immediate and undeniable reaction frustrated him. Although in his defense there had also been more than a few phone calls where he’d spoken to her since she did check up on her sister all the damn time. Each one of those instances had left him aching to go after her.
Unfortunately for him, he could smell the innocence on her and he wanted no part of that. He preferred his women more experienced and with low expectations no matter how good they smelled.
He wasn't the settling down type, and the last thing he wanted to do was lead her on--or hurt her.
Of course she'd arrive in the throes of mating season when it made good choices a lot harder when it came to the ladies. Especially ripe-for-the-picking human ones with a mother figure complex. It made her a perfect candidate to bear pack pups.
Just then his nose caught a different scent and the wolf inside him went on high alert. The sweet coppery smell of blood filled his head and the closer Faith got to him the stronger it got. Was she injured? Had someone dared to hurt her?
With his anger swiftly rising, this time he looked closer, beyond his memories and his sense of smell. There was a smudge of dirt on her face and what looked like leaves scattered through her hair. But it was the bare arm with a bandage wrapped around her wrist that made him growl.
"Easy brother. You're going to scare her away if you jump her now."
Diego, his brother and one of the three co owners of Club Diablo with him, eased behind the bar next to him.
"She's hurt."
"Yes, she is. That's what I came to talk to you about. Dante found her outside sobbing in her car. She was scared witless and terrified to step outside. He calmed her down, but we have a problem.“
He jerked, turning to his brother. "What happened? Tell me quick."
A small smile quirked at the edges of Diego's mouth before he turned serious again. "Says she was attacked by an abnormally large wolf out on the bridge. Apparently, she thought she hit him with her car and when she got out to investigate, he attacked her."
The wolf inside Damien pushed at his control. He wanted out and he wanted out right now. The beast would avenge her. "Who?" he asked.
